Hands-on Ecological

Restoration Services

Kawakawa Environmental offers a variety of hands-on ecological restoration services across a range of ecosystems. This work is delivered by our professional ecological restoration team who hold the appropriate qualifications and training to achieve the best results.

Services we provide

Restoration Site
Preparation

Restoration site preparation is a fundamental stage in a restoration project. Site preparation may include vegetation clearance, pest plant management, pest animal management, pre-plant spot spraying, digging plant holes and laying out plants in the most suitable areas.

Delivering a complete site preparation service ensures that the establishment of the new forest is off to the best possible start. Our team works with land owners, community groups, iwi and other local and government organisations to deliver this work.

Restoration
Planting

Our passionate planting team focuses on the selection, placement and correct planting of native species for restoration projects. We can supply several suitable plant species that are eco-sourced from your ecological district, giving the plant the characteristics which provide the best chance of survival in your region.

Pest Plant
Management

Introduced pest plants can be a significant threat to the successful establishment or restoration of native ecosystems in New Zealand. We employ a range of proven and innovative techniques to manage pest plants. By developing a control plan which identifies and prioritises the most problematic weed species, we aim to protect the area's current biodiversity value, prevent future degradation and increase the success of new revegetation projects.

Pest Animal
Control

Introduced pest animals play a significant role in the degradation of native ecosystems and biodiversity decline throughout New Zealand. We offer a broad spectrum of services in the animal control space by utilising the latest tools and techniques to control predator populations. Utilising humane trapping methods and vertebrate toxins, we can reduce and remove predator populations in a range of environments and conditions to increase biodiversity and prevent further habitat degradation.
